At first I chose to have all three devices packed up together and shipped via DHL, which was faster and cheaper than EMS. However, the big box was returned to Buyee the very next day by DHL due to exceeded limit of the amount of batteries allowed in one package. Oops.
It took another couple of days for Buyee to process the returned package, refund the DHL fees, and rerun the shipping instructions step. This time I chose Japan Air Small Package, priced almost the same as DHL with a bit longer delivery time.
Prices: Sig3 = 4,000 JPY, Sig2 = 2,000 JPY, Sig1 = guess what, a whopping 1 JPY!
The Sigmarion I did not come with its own AC charger. Fortunately, the one for Sigmarion II is compatible with Sigmarion I.
Afterword
Sigmarion III
Comparion with Jornada 720. While Jornada 720 is the thickest, it is also the shortest. Sig1 and Sig2 are identical in dimensions and are thicker than Sig3. Sig 3 is the longest among all. They are more or less of the same width.
Specifications of all three Sigmarion models at a glance (from phonedb.net)
Three quests are in order:
(1) The battery packs of all three Sigmarions are clearly long dead. Recelling them is necessary.
(2) The Sigmarion II suffers a damage at the screen hinge and is not able to support the screen. From the web this issue seems quite common for this particular model. Luckily there are several repair guides online to fix up this design flaw.
(3) Except for Sigmarion III, I do want to try out PocketDos on both Sig1 and Sig2 to see how it runs compared with Jornada 720.
Nice collection!
ReplyDeleteHow do the keyboards compare between the Sig1/2 and Sig3?
And with a Jornada 720?
Thanks.
Hi, there,
DeleteVery interestingly. The keyboards of I/II and III look so different, but they are actually almost identical both in key size and layout. Yet I tend to like the older keyboard more, perhaps for its more retro PC look and more importantly the tactile feedback is a bit better than Sig3's.
Compared with Jornada 720, the keys on I/II feel a bit firmer and more clicky than J720's. I still prefer the more conventional QWERTY keyboard on J720. But I am becoming more and more fond of Sig2. Both J720 and Sig2 have similar form factors and even dimenions. Both run HPC2000. Sig2 lacks PC card lot so as to leave room for its PHS phone connector. But, very very interestingly, stingraze has showed me some links to add USB support on Sig2 either with builtin USB flash or a new regular USB (2.0) port. I am seriously ruminating on how to implement this...
By the way I am also thinking of writing a comparative review to be posted both here and on the forum.
Have a nice weekend and hope the election result will only change for the better.
Wow - lovely collection!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the election.
